The Manzanita Area - the three little towns of Manzanita, Nehalem, and Wheeler -- is in many ways a hidden treasure for someone who just wants to get away. This area not only offers a terrific beach, but boating, fishing, crabbing, and river kayaking as well. The area is known for its vacation rentals, but both Manzanita and Wheeler also offer nice hotels. Wherever you stay, you will want to take a tranquil walk on Manzanita's scenic beach, rent a boat or kayak on Nehalem Bay in Wheeler, ride horseback on the beach at Nehalem Bay State Park, and indulge yourself in the area's many fine restaurants.
Rent a funcycle, fly a kite, capture a crab... You will have fun in the Manzanita Area. If you are driving south of Cannon Beach along Highway 101, make sure to stop a few miles shy of the area at about Mile Post 41.
