Choo chooo! Rockaway Beach's trademark seems to be the train that makes its way through the center of town. The Chamber of Commerce for this town is "The Little Red Caboose", which is located just feet from the real train tracks. This city has a number of interesting little shops to visit, and has some accomodations that are quite reasonably priced. The city has a terrific beach, but certainly doesn't offer all of the thrills of a larger town.
Eighty percent of Rockaway Beach resides within a stones throw of the water. While the train runs right through the middle of town, the seven mile stretch of beatiful beach more than makes up for the occasional noise. If you like beautiful beaches and enjoy staying on oceanfront property for very reasonable prices, you will love what Rockaway Beach has to offer.
