Coos Bay Oregon

Coos Bay, North Bend and Charleston create one big community that together offer just about everything possible to the coastal traveler. Lighthouses, State Parks, History, sandy beaches and more await you.

Lighthouses nearby include Cape Arago, Umpqua River and Coquille River. The Cape Arago Lighthouse is located near Charleston and is not available to the public but can be viewed from Sunset Bay State Park. You may also consider renting from "Loft by the Lighthouse" if you would like a fantastic view (look in vacation rentals). The Umpqua River Lighthouse is about 20 miles to the North of Coos Bay and North Bend. During the summer months this lighthouse can be toured. Coquille River Lighthouse is 20 miles to the South of Coos Bay in Bandon at Bullard's Beach State Park. This lighthouse is often open to the public as well.

There are several parks in and around the Coos Bay / North Bend area that can offer that perfect day for you and your family. There are parks with waterfalls, rocky beaches with agates, sandy beaches, and nature to your hearts content. If you are up for a hike and terrific scenery visit Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area. The drive is worth the pictures you will come away with. If gardens are your thing make sure to visit Shore Acres State Park. If your family likes exploring the beach and wants to get away from the crowds visit Seven Devils State Recreation Site, which offers several miles of open beach; You will likely find an agate or two in sections of this beach. Make sure to stop by the visitor's center while in town to get maps or directions to any of these parks.

Other activities include ATV rentals, fishing and crabbing, whale watching, boating, and even Disc Golf. There are two Disc Golf parks; one located at Mingus Park and the other at Coos Bay ORWindsor Park. The Mill Casino is another local attraction that can offer a little evening excitement. The casino sits right on the bay and is located in North Bend off Highway 101. The Casino offers terrific events and entertainment. For more information about the Mill Casino, click here.
